08. Millersten
The Millersten trail partly covers the same route as the one to Tingstad flisor.
You can either choose a 7.2-km route starting at the parking area/railway embankment, or combine it with a hike to Tingstad flisor for a total stretch of 13.8 km. Millersten is a large boulder of granite, inserted in the long stone wall. Millersten means ”stone halfway in the middle” and serves as a boundary marker between two parishes. Between the stone and the old railway embankment, part of this trail follows the more than 40-km long Mittmuren (the middle wall) which covers the entire Great Alvar in north-southerly direction. This is considered to be one of the first walls to be erected after the Crown’s grounds were divided at the start of the 19th century.'
